Chalawan is a company of passion focused on the Southeast Asia (SEA) Consumer space. Our mission is to understand this space better than anyone else, share our knowledge, and build or grow consumer businesses here for the long-term.

- We conduct research in the SEA Consumer space, and publish our insights through the Chalawan Insights newsletter.
- We offer advisory and consulting services to brands and investors, mainly focused on e-commerce, omnichannel, and CRM/loyalty in Southeast Asia
- We make our own bets through angel investments and self-funded ventures
Chalawan is founded by two ex-operators with a combined 18 years of experience in the SEA Consumer sector. We work with a network of trusted freelancers including designers, programmers, researchers and interpreters.

Co-founders
Simon Torring
- Primary focus on digital transformation for retailers and consumer brands. Previously started and led Sephora’s Southeast Asia omnichannel function, and held various commercial leadership roles in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
- Experience from Sephora Southeast Asia and digital marketing agencies in Malaysia and Denmark. Has lived in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia since 2013.
- Consulting and advisory experience from start-ups, corporates and institutional investors with focus on e-commerce, omnichannel and Southeast Asia market entry.
Matias Singers
- Focused on enabling growth through technology and product development. Previously led strategic projects in marketing software and consumer incentives, and launched frontier markets like Myanmar and Cambodia. Built and led teams across all Southeast Asian markets.
- Prior experience from Grab leading marketing technology and various product roles across e-commerce and consumer products in Malaysia and Denmark.
- Advisory experience with early-stage startups and institutional investors with a focus on digital growth, technology, and CRM.
